I was also excited about the reviews for this book but very disappointed with it. There is hardly any outside references to back up her points. Most of the book is common sense (speak kindly, speak encouragement), most of the book doesn’t address discipline and what to do when your child doesn’t listen. Like another reviewer said, its idealistic but not realistic. The author says all punishment is wrong and doesn’t give the reader any clue on what discipline is correct. I might give the book away, wasn’t very helpful.

Pam Leo is amazing. I had the privilege of attending her teleclass through consciouslyparenting.com, based on this book, and it was wonderful. I’m a better mother and my relationship with my kids is better because of the work Pam Leo is doing.

Every parent should read this! Even though a lot of it is basic info, it is really thought provoking!

I would highly recommend this book for the parent of any young child. It would be helpful to read it right after the birth of your child.

I call this book “The Parenting Cliff’s Notes” and I recommend it to anyone who will listen. Pam Leo has spent years working with children and reading books on parenting. She has distilled all that knowledge into an easy-to-read format in this book. This book is also a wonderful barometer through which to decided whether or not to utilize other parenting advice. This is the best of all the parenting books I’ve read.
