Child Car Safety
Child car safety is a primary concern for parents. Traveling with children can
be stressful and distracting. Add that to the already high number of vehicular
accidents a year and you’ve a receipt for disaster. However, there are now
child car safety devices that can help a parent or guardian relax a little more.
Car seats are the most common products purchased by parents today.
Companies who produce these seats are bound by regulations and standards
that help parents find peace of mind with their child car safety device. You
can check the type, model and safety rating of every seat available, with seats
ranging from infant size to the booster seat. The NHTSA produces a chart for
safety comparisons, providing parents with a standard on which to base their
purchase.
When trying to decide which seat to buy, you need to consider the weight and
age of the child. This is part of the child car safety. Infants will be placed in
a rear-facing car seat, as well as children up to 22 lbs. Convertible seats can
be used for children up to forty pounds and forward facing seats can be used
for children between twenty and forty pounds over a year old. Booster seats,
however are for children who are over forty pounds.
Child car safety is an important aspect of life and the future of your child.
You want them to be safe and secure, to be protected by any means available.
This is why it’s important to also invest in a car alarm that will alert you to your
child being near the car or someone else’s child being near the car.
No matter the brand of seat, the car alarm or any other child car safety item,
you want to extensively research your materials. Don’t place your child’s
safety solely in the hands of any machine or device. Use common sense
when it comes to child car safety.
