Barbie® & The Diamond Castle Glimmer™ Horse

This enchanting horse knows when she’s flying, galloping, eating or being groomed and has different sound and light reactions based on what she’s doing. With light-up wings, hooves and tiara, she makes magical sounds, too. And the more girls play with her, the more light and sound combinations she makes. Pretend she “flies” with golden wings, “gallops” with lightning speed, and whinnies lovingly as girls brush her long mane. Grooming brush and basket of grapes included. Requires 3 “AAA” batteries, included…. More >>

We got this horse for my daughter at Christmas. She loves this horse, to this day. The day we bought it she dropped it and one of the wings broke where it plugs into the horse’s body. I wanted to take it back and get our money, call it an easy to break piece of junk, and move one. However, my daughter desperately wanted another one. We got it and inside of two weeks she broke a wing again. I’ve since repaired the same wing a few times as best I could until it was just too broken to repair any longer. She still wants a new one for her birthday. I guess you have to decide if this sounds good to you or not.

We got Glimmer to go along with the Diamond Castle and the two singing dolls. I didn’t realize until it was delivered that the horse makes all sorts of noises and lights up! The horse “chomps” on apples, whinnies, and — our favorite — snores when she goes to sleep!(i.e. hasn’t been played with for about 3 minutes.) The wings don’t ‘flap’ like you might think, but they do light up in cool colors. It also seems sturdy enough that it’s not going to break in a week. For a girl who loves horses and Barbie, this is a great toy.

I bought this for my daughter on clearance at a local retailer and was very pleasantly surprised what a great toy this is. We have several Barbie/Disney horses and this is by far the best. It’s simple, the horse stands on its feet and is not overly tippy. It lights up and makes some nice sounds but is not overly done.
I gave the horse 4 stars instead of five only because I anticipate issues with the wings — they seem delicately attached and not overly sturdy.
My daughter absolutely loves it. I’m not sure I would pay the list price, but it’s a great toy if you can find it on sale.

This horse looked great in the package. I purchased the doll and the movie for my daughters (aged 3 and 5) and am somewhat disappointed with this toy. It’s hard to put the wings on and the motion required to trigger the sounds is above what a 3 year old (or even 5 year old) can do. I think for the money, there are better toys out there.

We got this for my daughter’s 5th birthday after much lobbying on her part. She absolutely loves it and still plays with it all of the time one month later. She shows it off every chance she gets and enjoys telling people all about the horse’s many adventures. The wings are the obvious weak point, but we have not had a problem with them coming off yet (and it’s not like she’s always gentle with the toy). It’s been a great buy for us.
